Billing continued for few months after closing account

My account for domain name and web service providing with XO communication was closed mid August 2015. That closure was XO initiative, supposedly since they discontinued servicing personal accounts, but stay with business clients only. Nevertheless, they have been sending me statement bills and charging by card regularly after that. Those were charge for services they never provided. I called customer service two times at least, and each time they offered me to stop billing. But it continues at same rate even now, after three months of discontinuing. Such performance can be a signature of obvious scam or just disorganized business. So, I recommend to be careful with these guys.

XO communicatons terrible business ethics

I have had my business phone lines with XO since 2009, the last 2 years I have been on a month to month plan in which I am paying about $125 to $200 more than I would on a 3 year plan. So they have made extra dollars off me for the last 2 years. I gave them a 45 day notice of cancellation, the next day they send me a new month to month contract and I am now being charged about $900. per month for the next 45 days. Up until I received this new contract I would have had them quote my phone lines in the future, but this is such poor business ethics and customer service I will never do business with XO in the future.

XO is just the carrier that holds the numbers. XO is not the one who is calling you.

The calls you are receiving could be from anyone. This has nothing to do with XO.

No human support for issues or billing

I have been a long term (since their beginning ) Concentric.net customer for hosting and email and have gotten them 100's of doctor customers in California when I was doing computers and billing for doctors along with others...after it became XO everything went downhill. Impossible to get support...now my automatic billing credit card has expired so they can not collect from me! Numerous emails to them to cancel, filled out customer surveys still no human contact only telephone robot calls back. I just finally another robot call today. My email account atronix@***.cnc.net I had to shut off because I was getting 100's of spam every day. I have turned off theralaser@***.cnc.net also. They will not change my physical snail mail address for the last 4 years...I gave up..all the time every month for the past 2 years I get billed their monthly fee and only until 4 months ago my credit card expired so they are unable to charge me by the month. My calls to technical support with a support ticket just refer me to billing...just recently they have robotically given me my account number which up until last year never needed...will try again to contact billing by phone but wish me luck!!!! XO cancelled my move on me and said I cancelled it - as a result no phones in new location

I scheduled a move. They cancelled it and said I had cancelled it. As a result I have no phones for my business. They now want to charge me a higher rate (I had recently renewed when I scheduled my move) and they tell me it will take 45 - 60 days for me to get any phone service at all. These guys are a bunch of criminals. Stay far far away. Their customer service is completely lacking and they are rude and very unprofessional to deal with, especially when it was them to erred by cancelling my move (why would I cancel my phone move given I was moving locations?)

Didn't cancel my service on time... billed me for several extra months

Moved service to GoDaddy since XO would not fix serious glitches on site. I sent numerous support requests, with never any kind of an answer, so the glitches continued until I moved to GoDaddy. I tried phoning, emailing and using the customer support service on their account page. Never got any kind of response. But, XO kept billing me. Couldn't get thru to customer service to fix this, and stop billings, any way I tried. When, months later, I got through they would not fix the situation, so I paid to get them off my back. The worst Internet hoster I've ever worked with.

XO communications is simply AWFUL to work with in EVERY way, Their service has been unreliable costing us tens of thousands of dollars in lost business due to incompetent servicing and lines. They will try to force you into a renewal by simply brow beating you into submission. They are NEVER going to get another opportunity to give me "Customer Service" EVER again. I could go on for an hour about what a uniquely ghastly telecommunications experience I have had with this company. They are NOT getting better over time, they are becoming progressively worse. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

For several months I had been receiving bills from XO hosting that would state Total Amount Due: $0.00, Billed to your Credit Card. As of yesterday I had no website and no email. When I called them and explained the bills, a rude customer care rep "Sierra" stated I need to talk to collections. I explained that the bills say total due $0. She tells me they migrated to a new billing system and I needed to correct the billing. How the heck was I supposed to know that, I assumed the credit card was being billed. After numerous calls, I end up with an Indian Call Center that accepted the payment. But would not turn the service on for 24 hours, even after admitting the billing language was their mistake. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, THERE ARE LOTS OF HOSTING SERVICES, THIS ONE STINKS. OUR SITE WAS HOSTED WITH CONCENTRIC FOR MANY YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. Also, I think their web interface is awful. This review could go on and on, but that would be wasting your time from finding a better service.

I am in same situation. XO wants to charge me over $35,000 in early termination fees.

We did pay out last bill with over double monthly fee and there is charge description show early termination fee. I thought it all done. Two month late, I received another invoice ask we to pay over $35,000 for early termination fee. It's nightmare.

We have outage for over 4 weeks and still not fix date yet. Keep pushing fix date back so far 4 times already. I would not get them if you need a reliable service for your business. First two weeks i would get no update about the fix. After getting agree they keep sending me same email every date and after one week they keep pushing the date back a week. This is a week 5 and they just pushed the date back another week. Stay away from them and find other providers. Bad communication no follow up. bad for your business.

Buyer beware they will rob you!

We have had an account with them for over 10 years. We closed the account and they continued to charge us. Now 4 months later we are now getting double billed at a frequency of every other day. The billing department does not return their calls , we have been on hold with them over 10 times (2 hours min) and they never pick up. We had to literally close our banking account to stop there blatant rip off today. Customer service is none , because they do not communicate. Buyer beware you will get ripped of by these thieves.

Be careful about automatic renewals. This can be VERY VERY costly.

We have been a customer of XOCommunications for several years. We pay the monthly bill automatically via our company credit card. As a result, our office manage was not routinely opening every paper bill and reading the detail. Recently I notified XOCommnications that we were closing down our office and would need to discontinue the service. I was informed that our three year contract had automatically been renewed for another three years... there had been a statement to this effect in one of the bills. No one from the company had contacted us regarding this. We were told that we were obligated to pay the entire amount of the contract for the three years, regardless of whether we need the service or not. The amount they demanded with over $26,000!! I have tried to negotiate, but so far have been told that I should have been aware of this provision in our contract (talk about fine print!) and will be responsible for the full amount.

The reminder on EACH monthly is NOT fine print. It is regular font in the notes and alerts area.

The website referencing the T&Cs are detailed in the contract you sign.

By executing the contract, you acknowledge that you have visited the website and agree to those T&Cs.

I've transitioned my services to another carrier with no issues at all (Hence, I read the T&Cs). However, I did try to lessen the 45 day bill out, but I understood it was in my T&Cs.

You should take ownership of neglecting to read the T&Cs!

There is fine print... on their documentation it refers to "General Terms and Conditions" -- http://www.xo.com/legal-and-privacy/product-terms-and-conditions/ which links to a PDF that outlines this.

It's still *** All of these ISP are colluding together and don't offer any reasonable kill fee, or any reasonable way out. They prey upon any tiny oversight on the part of their customers, like for instance not submitting in writing within the allowed window of cancellation (45-30 days).

They also offer no reasonable way to make it tenable, like for instance being able to upgrade the line without re-starting a contract, or move the line to another office without restarting the contract.

They bill out 45 days as they require a 45 day notification to terminate services. So you are only billing out the 45 day notice while the services are disconnecting.
